North Carolina’s warmer temperatures mean the end of the ski season is near.
The Beech Mountain Ski Resort’s final day is March 14, which is the date of its annual Pond Skim. Skiers and snowboarders try to glide across a small body of water at the base of the mountain.

Beech Mountain goes into its late season on Monday, meaning the resort is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day through March 14. Weekday ticket pricing applies for this coming week.

Sugar Mountain has yet to announce its closing date for the ski season.
Appalachian Ski Mountain is scheduled to remain open through March 15. The resort is planning to hold its Meltdown Games on March 14-15. The March 14 events include a high ollie contest, a ski and snowboard big air, a cardboard box derby and a trash bag downhill race. The March 15 events include an 80s mogul competition, a pond skim and costume contest and a Chinese Downhill Race, meaning everyone starts at the Top of Big Appal on skis or snowboard. Everyone drops together and the first person to the bottom wins.
Cataloochee Ski Area had its last night session of the season on Saturday. The resort has yet to announce its closing day.
Sapphire Valley Ski Area is closed for the ski season.
Hatley Pointe’s final day of the season was Saturday with a special Hawaiian Lua Party. The resort had a pond skim on Saturday afternoon.
