Eighteen people were arrested during a five-day sex offender compliance operation in Robeson County, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Operation Register Watch brought together the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Department of Probation and Parole, and the U.S. Marshals Service.

The operation focused on making sure registered sex offenders were following registration requirements and court-ordered conditions.
Law enforcement conducted hundreds of compliance checks and identified multiple registration violations.
Charges included:
- 31 counts of failure to register as a sex offender
- Six counts of failure to report a new address as a sex offender
- Two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon
- One count of possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana
The U.S. Marshals Service said operations like Register Watch allow federal, state, and local agencies to work together to hold offenders accountable and protect communities.
The agency conducts more than 200 sex offender operations each year across the country.
Since the Adam Walsh Act took effect, the U.S. Marshals Service said it has opened 52,000 investigations involving federal failure-to-register violations and closed more than 7,500 federal warrants through arrests.
Since 2006, the agency and its fugitive task force partners have also closed 250,000 felony warrants through arrests involving fugitives wanted for sex offenses or failure-to-register violations.
The U.S. Marshals Service said it has carried out more than 5,300 sex offender compliance and enforcement operations with state and local law enforcement agencies, resulting in more than 842,000 compliance checks on known sex offenders.
