Ashton Konopka, 21, was arrested by Apex Police Thursday night after fleeing on his motorcycle from a traffic stop.
An Apex officer was on patrol at Beaver Creek Shopping center when he saw Konopka on a motorcycle driving recklessly. When the officer tried to make a traffic stop, Konopka fled. Court records show he was going 100 mph, weaving in and out of traffic and using the center turn lane to pass traffic.

Within a few minutes, the motorcycle struck a vehicle and slid along Williams Street. Konopka fled into the woods.
He was later located along with a handgun on Apex Peakway near Bryan Drive. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and then transported to the Wake County Detention Center.
