A Fayetteville mother is facing criminal charges after she fled from police and crashed her car, where her three children died. 

Megan Scott, 31, is facing three felony counts of involuntary manslaughter, among other charges.

The investigation found that Scott was driving recklessly, with speeds reaching 111 mph. Investigators said that two of her children were ejected from Scott's vehicle, adding that they required car seats and were not safely secured inside the vehicle. A third child was in the car at the time of the crash.

Two of the children died at the scene, and the third died later at the hospital. 

Court records indicate that Scott fled from police near Cedar Creek Road and crashed near Fields Road in Fayetteville.  

WRAL obtained call transcripts from emergency services. A 911 call was placed around 10 p.m. to inform police there was a woman parked behind the post office on Cedar Creek Road, and she appeared to be in distress. The caller said "her face is busted up, her kids are in the car and she did not want to call the police."

The person called back nearly an hour later to tell dispatchers that police had arrived at the scene, and the woman sped away with her children in the car. 

The crash happened on June 3 around 11 p.m. on Cedar Creek Road.

Scott received the following charges related to the June 3 incident:

  • Three felony counts of involuntary manslaughter
    • Reckless driving to endanger
      • Speeding
        • Three counts of failure to secure passenger under 16
          • Failure to wear seat belt - driver
            • Failure to maintain lane control
              • Driving while license revoked
                • Hit-and-run
                  • Two counts of assault on an officer, by hitting two Fayetteville Police officers with her vehicle.
                    • Assault with a deadly weapon, by hitting her partner with her vehicle.
                      • Domestic violence

                        Records show that on June 2, Scott was cited for driving without a license or insurance and for having an expired registration.

                        The next day, officers said Scott was involved in a domestic dispute. Fayetteville Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at 8:58 p.m., Scott was asked to exit the vehicle, and was questioned for biting a man in the arm.

                        She hit the victim, and two officers with her car and then sped away. Later that night, officers responded to a hit-and-run on Cedar Creek Road.

                        A GoFundMe was started to cover the funeral costs of the three brothers, identified by family as Jae' Coda Thomas, 3, Ju' Mari Thomas, 6, and Jack Thomas, 8.

                        Scott is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. The release order states that "the defendant has a history of assault - causing serious bodily injury, theft, carrying weapons (in Texas), and she is a flight risk."

                        Her next court appearance is July 7 at 9 a.m.
