A Sampson County sheriff’s deputy was arrested and fired after an allegation that he was part of an assault in Harnett County in May.
The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said it only recently received a complaint about Deputy Joseph Rusk-Madison.

After investigators met with the alleged assault victim, they recommended that she press charges.
Madison was arrested at his Sampson County home early Saturday.
The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office did not release details of the alleged assault or specific the charges Madison is facing, but did say he is no longer employed with the sheriff's office.
