The former Newton Grove police chief, who was charged with secret peeping and indecent liberties with a minor, now faces more charges.
Greg Warren was charged with trafficking, opium or heroin and possessing a weapon of mass destruction. The 50-year-old Warren appeared in Sampson County court on Thursday for a bond hearing. Warrants said he possessed 46 grams of a mixture containing oxycodone and an "AR-style short-barreled rifle with no serial number."

The bond for the trafficking and weapons charges was set at $500,000. The bond for the indecent liberties charges totaled $50,000.
Warren resigned from his position on Jan. 13. He was placed on leave after his arrest on Jan. 7.
Warren is accused of going into the victim's bedroom and taking photos of her while she was sleeping, according to court documents.
Warren's first court appearance came on Thursday, Jan. 8. During the proceedings, a prosecutor said that inappropriate pictures were found on an iPad that was linked to Warren's phone. It was said that the defendant admitted taking the pictures to a family member and to law enforcement.
Warren had been chief of police in Newton Grove since 2019.
