Power restored for 6,100 customers in Orange County after tree damaged transmission line

A power outage for thousands of customers was resolved on Sunday in Orange County.

According to Piedmont Electric Cooperative (PEC), the company experienced an issue with a transmission line that affected approximately 6,100 members in Orange County. 

The company provides electricity for roughly 34,000 customers

PEC said the issue to the transmission line was caused by a tree that fell on it after it had been cut and they need to disconnect power from their substations in Carrboro, Eubanks, New Hope and Westbrook to repair the damaage.

The company restored power around 5:50 p.m.
