WRAL News has regularly reported on problems with gun violence in the area of a Raleigh nightclub near the intersection of New Bern Avenue and Trawick Road.
The most recent came early Sunday when the van of a performer and three other cars were shot up outside StarBar.

It marked the 17th reported incident on the property in the past 12 months, Raleigh police data shows. Over that time period -- from April 2024 to April 2025 -- there have been 93 calls for service to that location.
Records show the owner, Giovanni McDougald, also owes almost $70,000 in back taxes to the state.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, more than 20 shots were fired in the parking lot outside the bar. Police said the intended target appeared to be the performer, identified on the bar's website as rapper OMB Peezy.
A witness who didn't want to be identified told WRAL News the chaos erupted during a party after the show.
"Once we got to the club, I would say about 4 a.m., is when we heard shots fired outside the club, and everybody pretty much ran outside," the woman said.
The woman said gunfire hit her car as she ran for cover.
"We couldn’t really tell where the shots were coming from," she said.
In August, two people were shot at StarBar.
In 2020, the bar lost its liquor license after a five incidents of shootings and stabbings on or near the property. That license was reinstated in May 2021 and renewed in April 2024.
A search of WRAL archives shows at least seven times police said someone was shot or stabbed at Star Bar or in the parking dating back to 2015.
No one was injured in Sunday's shooting, and no one has been arrested.
