After 65 years, boom in residents brings mail delivery to Research Triangle Park

After 65 years, the United States Postal Service (USPS) is officially beginning mail delivery to Research Triangle Park (RTP).

Triangle leaders and elected officials gathered Thursday to celebrate this achievement.

Leaders said this service is needed more than ever, not just because of the people working in that community, but because more people are living in the area as well.

"If you look down the road, we're pleased to see the first residents living in Research Triangle Park in the MAA Nixie community," said Andrew Holton, Research Triangle Foundation Chief Operating Officer. "We hope that that's gonna be the first of thousands who will ultimately live in Research Triangle Park. But as we talked to leasing agents and brokers, we realized they need their mail."

This is the first time RTP has had centralized mail delivery for the more than 375 companies and the 55,000 employees that call the area home. Until now, all businesses in the park relied on a single post office.

The new mail delivery service is expected to alleviate these challenges, providing more efficient and accessible postal services to the community.
