FORT MILL, S.C. - A South Carolina Sheriff's Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting after a deputy responded to a 911 call and the resident charged at deputies with a knife.
Around 9:20 a.m., deputies responded to a report of an unconscious person who was not breathing. However, when deputies arrived, they said they found the person conscious and armed with a knife.

The sheriff's office said the person barricaded themself in a room, and one deputy ordered them to put the knife down and leave the room.
When they refused, deputies opened the door and asked them to come out of the room. They charged at the deputies, one of the deputies fired his weapon, killing the person inside.
No deputies reported injuries. The identity of the person who died has not been identified yet.
The sheriff's office noted that Sheriff Tony Breeden has requested the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate, and said further information would come from them. The deputy, who has not been identified, is now on administrative leave.
