Roy Cooper campaigns in Charlotte in U.S. Senate race

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCNC) - Former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is taking his campaign message on the road, promising to make the cost of everyday goods and services a priority if he is elected to the U.S. Senate.

Cooper brought his "Make Stuff Cost Less" campaign to Charlotte on Friday. 

"Number one, we need to roll back these tariffs," Cooper said. "We need to restore health care to people."

His Republican opponent, Michael Whatley, has challenged Cooper's record on costs, pointing to increases in areas including energy, healthcare and housing.

North Carolina's general election is Nov. 3; early voting begins Oct. 15.
