North Carolina has addressed its players’ driving and other off-the-field issues, even bringing in outside speakers, football coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday, two days after a WRAL Investigates report uncovered dozens of speeding charges and 10 reckless driving counts among football players.
“Our conduct outside of the building, outside of the program, is important to us, and we stress that,” Belichick said Wednesday during his weekly press availability. “We’ve addressed multiple things, not just that. There are other things that go on, besides driving, that we’ve talked about absolutely.”

Belichick, who won six Super Bowl titles as head coach of the NFL’s New England Patriots, is in his first season as a college head coach. Three defensive players that he brought to Chapel Hill as transfers have accounted for the bulk of the charges, notably starting linebacker Khmori House, who has been cited for reckless driving four times in North Carolina.
On two of House’s citations, law enforcement officers noted that his repeated infractions are no longer a mistake, but a behavioral problem. Belichick didn’t address any specific players or give specifics about how the team has addressed it. When asked if it has been discussed in team meetings or individually one-on-one with players, Belichick said “all of the above.”
“Multiple other people have talked about it as well to the team that aren’t members of the team,” Belichick said. “We’ve addressed it.”
The Tar Heels (4-6) host Duke at Kenan Stadium on Saturday.
